Walking through the mall, her attention is drawn to a particular high-end boutique. Knowing her current financial status she thinks to herself, “I could never afford that” and continues her path to a less expensive store. While trying on a pair of whole sale shoes, the imprint of the boutique still lingers in her mind. The more she attempts to deny her desire the stronger it becomes. After a brief period of inner struggle she manages to overcome her rationale and make her way back to the boutique. “I must be crazy” she thinks to herself, but her longing to live better and have better pushes her forward. While leaving the boutique she carries no merchandise but the mental image remains. Her experience is greater than garments but a glimpse into life without limitations.
What would you do if you had no limitations? Where would you shop? Where would you live? What would you drive? Where would you go? These are questions that most people feel are irrelevant to them. Bound by their current conditions, many feel powerless to change their situation and even disdain those that would try to tell them else wise.
Caught in an endless cycle of “not enough” can cause people to embrace a culture of “I can’t” rather than explore the options of what can be done. Facing the seemingly insurmountable obstacles of poverty, broken relationships and broken dreams, life seems to constantly challenge our sense of self worth, leading us to believe that living a better life is undeserved and impossible.
Although there are those that continually consent to the concept of “impossible”, Jesus offers a different paradigm. In Mark 9:23 Jesus conveys that all things are possible. In adherence to the teachings of our creator here are some empowering priciples to help you live your life without limits:
-
Change Your Beliefs
In Mark 9:23 Jesus reminds us that our restrictions are not in the place of possibilities, but in the boundaries of our belief system. Those that live lives without limits believe that they can and deserve to. Your belief system is shaped by what you hear and what you see. It is essential that you listen to those that encourage, uplift and challenge you to a life that is more than where you currently reside. In order to see more it requires that change your environment. Don’t be afraid to explore people, places and perspectives that broaden your sphere of possibilities.
-
Change Your Language
Everything that currently exists was once a spoken word. Your confession is critical to your life without limits. Only speak those things that are conducive to your destination not your current situation. If Jesus could speak to mountains and fig trees certainly we that are made in his image can speak to our personal challenges. Whatever you consistently speak will become your reality.
-
Change Your Associates
For many this is the most difficult but necessary adjustment that must be made. Your relationships should be inline with your destination not your departure. This is not to suggest that you totally abandon those who were instrumental in your development, but an assessment must be made as to whether their role in your life is still relevant to where you are going.
Contrary to popular beliefs, it is possible for to accomplish your ambitions. Don’t ever allow anyone, anywhere or anything to define the parameters of your possibilities. As you partner with God and prepare for your future, there is nothing that can stop you from living your life without limits!
